Why should I use Royal Pets Ltd?
As a locally owned and operated pet care company, Royal Pets Ltd recognizes that each client and pet has his or her own specific requirements. We tailor our care according to your preferences and your pet's needs. Many veterinarians recommend that pets stay home while their owners are away. Our in-home pet care and home boarding pet care allow your pets to stay in familiar surroundings, maintain their diet and exercise routines, avoid stress from being transported to a boarding facility and minimize exposure to illnesses from other animals. Whether it is for a long vacation or long nights when you are stuck in the office, you will be able to relax and to really focus on work or fun knowing that your pet is in caring and capable hands.

What happens if my pet becomes ill or injured?
We are dedicated to provide excellent care of your pet. In the event of an emergency, we will contact you and your emergency contact person. The latter is responsible to take your pet to the vet. In case the emergency contact person is not available, the pet sitter will take your pet to the nearest vet.
In addition we have appointed Home vet as a back up vet who provides mobile veterinary services near your own home 24/7. This medical 'back up' provides peace of mind that your pet is being cared for.
Any medical costs are payable by the pet owner.

May I book with the pet sitter for future bookings?
All bookings must be made directly with Royal Pets Ltd. We will always do our best to provide carers who have looked after your pets before. Please call or email us as soon as you need to make another booking - the more notice we receive the more likely we will be able to secure the same carer for you.

I have a trip come up at short notice! Can you help me?
We will always try to help you at short notice, but we cannot guarantee availability if there is very little time before your trip begins. Giving us as much advance notice as possible is the best way to fit you in the schedule!

Will you send me updates when I'm away?
Of course, our pet sitters would be more than happy to send you regular updates.

Will I always have the same pet sitter?
Because we understand that pets form a special bond with their pet sitter, we make every attempt to have the same pet sitter visit your home each time. In the event your sitter is not available(i.e illness, vacation ect.), we will do our best to provide you another fully trained and informed pet sitter with our consistent high standard of care. But we cannot guarantee the same pet sitter will be available each time you need our services.

How far ahead do I need to book?

Unfortunately not. We are unable to accept boisterous, out of control or aggressive dogs or dogs that are incontinent or seriously unwell, dogs that are not completely housetrained or have behavioural problems. Please keep in mind your dog will be staying in a family home, so our service is only suitable for friendly, family dogs.
We are happy to accept all breeds as long as they are obedient, non-destructive and non-aggressive and have a calm, gentle nature.

Do you accept puppies or dogs on medication?
Generally we do not take puppies under 10 months of age, however at our discretion, we may accept younger dogs provided they are fully housetrained. We are happy to board dogs on medication.

Can you collect my dog?
We would request that you drop off your dog and pick it up again. But we can also arrange to provide pick up/drop off service at an extra charge.

Does my dog need to be vaccinated, even though it's not mixing with other dogs?
Yes. Your dog must be up to date with its annual vaccinations and with recent worming and flea treatment before being placed in one of our carers' homes. Please leave the vaccination book with the carer for the duration of the boarding.

What do I need to provide for my dog?
When bringing your dog to its holiday house, you should also bring enough food for the entire duration, its bed, food and water bowls, toys, collar, treats, lead and medication if required.

What if I forget to bring something to the carers?
Don't worry, we will supply it. However, there will be a charge if your sitter needs to purchase it.

My dog normally sleeps on my bed, will the sitter allow him to do this?
Sitters generally do not allow dogs on their bed. Your dog will need to be comfortable sleeping in its own bed during its stay. However, some carers advise us that they have had dogs sleeping on their beds, especially the smaller ones.

My dog is on medication, can the sitter administer this?
Yes, we take full details at the booking stage. Please let us know If the medication levels change.

I have two dogs. Will you accept both into one house?
Yes, we would never split dogs that belong to the same family. Some sitters only take one dog at a time, so we will look at alternative options to ensure your dogs are not separated.

Can my dog stay with a different sitter next time?
Yes, of course!. However we experience that pets settle better in familiar surroundings, so using the same sitter is more beneficial.

How many dogs does a carer look after at the same time?
We only take one family's dog at the same time. Dogs get plenty of opportunities to socialize with other dogs during their walks.

How will my dog be exercised?
Pet Carers exercise the dogs on a lead as dogs can behave differently in new surroundings and may find any new scents just too inviting!

Can I book any further dates directly with the carers?
No, booking can only be made through Royal Pets Ltd to avoid double bookings, where possible and upon your request we will endeavour to match your dog with the same carer.

Does my dog need to be insured?
No. However we suggest all owners to insure their dogs prior to the stay.

What happens if I collect my dog later than agreed?
If you collect your dog or dogs later than agreed in the original booking, there will be an additional charge for every calendar day. Please contact Royal Pets Ltd as soon as you can if this is likely to happen, so we can liase with the carer and ensure the booking details are updated.
